The Britax Diplomat is a compact convertible car seat ideal for use with vehicles with limited rear seat space. The Diplomat features True Side Impact Protection with deep side walls and head support to provide advanced protection in side impact collisions. Easy-turn knob quickly adjusts headrest and harness height without having to uninstall the seat. Tangle-free, five-point harness ensures a snug and secure fit.

Premium push-button LATCH connectors provide a quick, simple and tight installation. Unique features include the patented Versa-Tether for energy management, rear- and forward-facing recline for child comfort, and a body pillow for positioning. The Diplomat fits children rear facing from five to 35 pounds and children forward facing from at least one year old and 20 pounds, up to 40 pounds. VERY high quality
Our previous seat was a cheaper $90 Evenflo and it doesn't even begin to compare to the quality of this Britax seat. You can just see and feel how much better quality this thing is. After much research I was impressed with the additional side impact protection this seat provides, compared to cheaper carseats. It is a myth that all carseats are created equal. They all have to meet certain standards but some carseats go well beyond the minimum. I highly recommend this Britax model. The fact that it is more compact in size is a huge plus.

Pleased with Britax
I purchased this seat for use in my G35 which has a very tight backseat. It fits well with room to move the seat back without hitting the child seat. This seat seems to be as comfortable for my son as the larger Boulevard that we have in our other car. (However, my son is on the small side being eleven months old and weighing 17 lbs). I do believe that this seat would probably not be comfortable for a newborn without head control. The side support does not keep my son's head from leaning when he falls asleep and I cannot imagine that it would support a newborn. This is our third Britax seat and we have been very happy with all. They seem to be comfortable and well made as well as consistently rated among the best for safety. This seat does tend to be more expensive than most of the competition but is worth the extra money in my opinion to keep my child safe.

Worth the expense
This carseat is deffinately worth the extra expense. It is very sturdy. Latch is easy to install, although using the seat belt can be a litte more tricky. The only downfall is despite the velcro for the straps, they still become tangled. I know though most other carseats do this and it's just a downfall. I would recommend to a friend, and purchase another when we have additional children

my child is safe and comfortable and loves the cow pattern
I bought this seat because of a very high rating from consumer reports. When we opened the box we loved the cow pattern right away. It is also very soft and comfortable. My 4 year old is using it now and can do the seat belt all by herself. The belt is a little too tight for her to get out of by herself - she doesn't quite have the strength to push the button enough to release the latches. This is bad when I am in a hurry and want her to get out quickly, but it is really good because it means she can't take it off when she shouldn't. In a few months my baby will be ready for this seat as my 4 year old will then be 5 and is finally big enough to move into a booster seat (she's small for her age). I love how flexible this car seat is for all ages. Again, it is also very well padded and comfortable. It was easy to install and really stays put. I REALLY like this car seat. It will grow with my little one for years to come. I highly recommend it.
